Getting started
Last updated September 30, 2026
Auto Apply keeps every job you have found, applied to, or heard back from in one place. Here is how to get going. You only need step 1 and step 2. The rest is optional.
1. Sign in
Press Open tracker at the top of any page and choose Continue with Google. Any Google account works. We only receive your name, email address and picture so we know who you are.
2. Add your jobs
- One at a time: open Jobs and press Add a job.
- From a spreadsheet: open Import and drop in the CSV files you downloaded from Google Sheets or Excel. It reads the column names, so the order does not matter. It is safe to import the same file twice.
- Move them along: on the Board, drag a card by its dotted handle to another column, or use the menu on the card. Each change is saved as you make it.
3. The Chrome extension (optional)
The extension fills in application forms from your saved details and can send each job you track to your board automatically. It works in Chrome and Edge on Mac and Windows.
- Download it from the Download page and unzip it. Put the
AutoApplyfolder somewhere it can stay, like Documents, and do not delete it. - In Chrome, open
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode (top right), press Load unpacked and choose theAutoApplyfolder. - Click the puzzle piece in Chrome and pin Auto Apply so it stays on your toolbar.
- To connect it, open Profile here and press Connect my extension. There is nothing to copy and paste. (Prefer to do it by hand? Create a token for the Chrome extension in Settings and paste it in the extension's Website tab.)
Once connected, the extension sends the jobs you track and keeps your profile, saved answers and resumes in step with this website, in both directions. Install or update the extension in a new folder and connect again, and everything comes back on its own. You can see and edit it on the Profile page. It is stored encrypted, and you choose what syncs in the extension's Website tab. The extension never submits an application for you.
4. Connect Gmail (optional)
When you connect Gmail, replies to your applications update your board on their own: an interview invitation moves a job to Interview, a rejection moves it to Rejected. It is read only, so we can never send, delete or change your email, and we keep only what we detected, not the message text.
You will see a Google warning. Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app" for any app that reads Gmail until its review is finished. That is expected, and you can skip Gmail entirely if it makes you uneasy. To continue:
- Open Settings and press Connect Gmail.
- On the warning screen, press Advanced.
- Press Go to mikelcrump.com (unsafe), then Continue.
You can disconnect at any time in Settings, or remove access from your Google Account under Security, then Third-party access.
Your data
- Download it: Settings has a Download my jobs button that gives you a spreadsheet file. It also works as a backup, and the Import page can read it back in.
- Delete it: Settings also has Delete my account, which removes everything right away.
- Read the full Privacy Policy.
If something is not working
- I cannot sign in. Try again from the sign-in page, and make sure pop-up and cookie blockers are off for this site.
- The extension is not sending jobs. Open its settings, choose the Website tab and check it says Connected. Press Send my existing jobs now to catch up.
- Gmail did not update a job. It matches the sender to a company on your board, so the job needs to be on your board first. Emails it could not match are listed under Gmail in Settings, and they are checked again every time it syncs.
- Anything else. Email mikelcrump611@gmail.com.
